21. Municipal Housing (City Planning Division)

There are currently 12 municipal housing complexes (comprised of 260 units) available in Minokamo City. A relative living in Minokamo who will act as a joint guarantor is required to apply.

Eligibility for Housing

The following requirements  (1)~(5) must be met to be eligible for municipal housing:

(1) Must live with relatives, or plan to live with relatives (there are other requirements for people living alone)

(2) Must have evident problems with their current residence

(3) Must not have unpaid or overdue municipal taxes

(4) Must not be a member of any organized crime group or syndicate

(5) Must be within the fixed income limit set by the city (monthly income of less than 158,000 yen per month; discretionary income level of less than 214,000 yen per month)

※ Upon moving in, a joint guarantor is needed (conditions apply other than Minokamo City residence).

※ My Number is necessary for the application.

22. Neighborhood Association (Machizukuri Division)

- What are Neighborhood Associations (Jichikai)?

Neighborhood Associations are volunteer organizations which engage in various activities within the local community, and are comprised of locals who aim to develop the local community and improve the residents’ welfare. They are resident organizations that decide and implement the rules of community living. They engage in various initiatives based on the spirit of mutual aid where residents connect, understand, and help each other. We encourage people to participate in Neighborhood Associations because they play a significant role in creating a good living environment. For membership, please submit an application to the chairperson or any nearby member.

23. Sugu Mail Minokamo

Sugu Mail Minokamo is an email advisory distribution service that provides urgent and important information on fires, and disasters like typhoons or floods. Please register<外部リンク> and make use of this service. 

24. Ai-Ai Bus

The Ai-Ai Bus is divided into “7 colored lines”. There are two types of vehicles in operation: buses on the city center line and vans on the rural lines. For details on the various bus lines, timetables, and transportation fees, please visit the Ai-Ai Bus home page<外部リンク>. (Japanese only) 

25. Minokamo International Exchange Association

The Minokamo International Exchange Association<外部リンク> (MIEA) engages in international exchange activities such as youth exchange programs with our sister city Dubbo, and carries out multicultural activities with foreigners such as Japanese classes, child learning support, and life counseling. 

MIEA also loans school supplies that are necessary for children going to school.

26. Working for Minokamo City: Recruitment & Selection

Non-Japanese Nationals may also work for the Minokamo City Hall. Employee recruitment opens at various times. Whenever there is a job opening, details will be posted at the Announcement board of Minokamo’s home page<外部リンク> (Japanese only).
